Jang Chul-Soo’s Bedevilled is a slow burning fuse to a third act slaughterhouse that triumphs in its potent fusion of extreme violence and bitterly unsettling abuse. Unabashedly divisive, though relentlessly true to its poisonous and seething core, it proves to be the cinematic equivalent of a close-fisted punch to the head.

Knowing little to nothing about the premise of this film is no doubt the best ploy if you are to bear its full, and unexpectedly vicious, brunt. A fact that of course makes this review redundant before it has even begun. But read on, for many may not even have chance to see this easily overlooked glimpse into the filthy darkness. This as it is a film that surely risks to sink beneath the weight of an unsleeping and surging tide of Asian produced horror.
