A MAN driving a stolen car the wrong way along a one-way street almost crashed into a police car in Toowoomba early Saturday.
A police spokeswoman said the stolen car almost collided with the unmarked police car on Neil St, near the intersection of Margaret St, at 3.20am.
Officers activated their lights in an attempt to pull over the driver but he evaded officers, dangerously driving the wrong way along Russell St.
Police stopped following the car because of the manner in which the offender was driving and the potential risk to members of the public.
The spokeswoman said the stolen car was later sighted by police.
The driver again evaded a marked police car before crashing the stolen vehicle in Willow St, North Toowoomba.
He fled on foot but was arrested after a foot chase.
A 29-year-old man is currently assisting police with their investigation into a number of serious offences including dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, evading police, and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
